Book Opinion of They Both Die at the End

This book is quite boring. (I'm sorry, languages). I should have read the reviews of this book first before purchasing.

STORYLINE
It's just so simple. Rufus and Mateo meets by an app called Last Friend, then they spend the 24hours together towards their death day. It is just it is!

Really, that should have been just that simple.

This book reminds me of one of Nicola Zoon's novel titled, 'The Sun is Also a Star' because it's told in many different point of views and the story's occurs within just a day which is the same as Nicola's book. And about two soulmates meeting which ended split up because of an incident. Is it an accidental or...?

I was so excited with the title They Both Die at the End. Death always sounds intriguing to me. I thought this book would tell me about death itself but apparently this one didn't work for me.

The story begins with how Death-Cast call Mateo and Rufus. It is pretty neat at the beginning of how Adam Silvera used 2 viewpoints; Mateo and Rufus. Rufus, as soon as he receives the call, immediately rushes to plan his death ceremony, while Mateo doesn't. The scene at the start is really tense and intriguing because Rufus himself is already in conflict with Peck. The arrival of the police also makes the situation worse that I become even more intrigued with the beginning. Once again, it's only the beginning in the part one that isn't boring.

The next events are just about Mateo and Rufus. Mateo and Rufus. Maero and Rufus. Fully about them. Point of views of them. Part 2 and 3 are boring too because they both are having some trips wandering around the city.

The story plot is very slow because every incident is told in detail, even more, the changes point of view are very swift between Rufus and Mateo, like, really? 15 minutes is told by Rufus then 10 minutes later, it changes swiftly to Mateo point of view.

The writing types used between Mateo and Rufus also sometimes makes me confused. There is almost no difference. Then about the relationship between them, I thought that Last Friend was literally JUST to make A FRIEND. Apparently it's not. Mateo's confession to Rufus while dancing, really? That is very sudden. There should have been any sign. But no. I didn't find any gesture between them if they like each other. I mean, Adam Silvera should write some sign that they like each other rather than writing about their adventures during a day of wandering in the city.

SUB PLOT: Delilah and Victor love story in some parts towards the end. I think it's just a trinket to make the book pages more thicker. The opening of some chapter are also boring. I found it really boring. Same sentences, "Death-Cast didn't call (him/her) because (he/she) isn't dying today," or "Death-Cast called (him/her) because (he/she) is dying today."

I shouldn't have purchased a novel that took place within a day. It has a very slow plot. I struggled to finish it soon because i couldn't wait to see the conflicts.

Give it 3/5 because it has an emotional part ONLY in the end. Apart from that, maybe i shouldn't give it a rating.
